Here is our first attempt at the promotional poster for the Album!



The design is basic, too basic infact. The black/white and salmon pink are a continuity factor and look good however comes across as boring and not too appealing to the eye.

Here is our Digipak. We used a screen-shot from the music video, the image used on the poster, and a couple of pictures we took and edited especially to use for the digi-pak! i am really happy with how everything is turning out. The vision is turning into reality! (...Finally)

 

 

 

Making a start on our 6 panel Digi-pak..

Today, we chose images to use for our digipak. We decided on using 3 stills from the music video and 3 images taken for the digi-pak. Also, we decided on using a mixture of Black and white images, Cepia edited and colour images to represent the theme of our music video so it is an ongoing theme and a continuity factor.

Using Adobe premier!

Yesterday, we finished ALL our video. We managed to film all the footage and shall start editing it next week :D We will begin to use Adobe Premier in order to edit our footage and produce an amazing music video.

Back cover.. Take 2!

After realising our mistake yesterday Kayla and I produced a new back cover today. Here it is with the CORRECT Album name! 'Mamma Knows Best' with the tracklist. The tracklist was made up by myself and Micheala.

Back cover and Track listing :)

Today, we edited our back cover for the Album CD. And decided to anme the album 'RYTHM'. However, after realising we had made amistake and named the front cover 'Mamma Knows Best' already, we had to change the text. We then tried to edit the cover but this was not possible as we had saved it as a JPEG file and therefore could not be accessed to be edited. Tomorrow, i will have to produce another back cover from scratch..it shouldnt be too hard as we know how to edit/upload onto photoshop now.

Here is our Album cover, edited on photoshop. Kayla and I both had an input on the layout  and design. We decided on the black and white image as we were going for a old-school theme. Also, the salmon pink text contrasts against the image and therefore stands out. The album name 'Mamma Knows Best' was edited on photoshop also, using the lasso tool to cut around it and get the desired effect. We made the 'Mamma knows best' logo by cutting newspaper letters and sticking them onto paper and then crumpled the sheet in order to obtain the desired effect.  After uploading the 'Mamma knows Best' image onto photoshop and using the lasso tool we used 'Cepia' effect to get the colour we wanted.

Research into CD covers and promotional posters!

The fact that our protagonist is a female and is a solo artist I looked and researched into Beyonce and Christina Aguilera CD covers which were our main inspirations.

                                                         

We chose a picture for the cover of our CD from a selection of photos from our location shoot. I edited the photo on photoshop in black and white to make it look retro and tie in with the vintage theme. We took the idea of the letters 'Why dont you love me?' from Beyonce's cover and took it to the next level by taking a reallife newspaper, cutting letters out and sticking them to the blank paper- we then took the picture of our creation and uploaded it to photoshop and using the lasso tool created the desired effect. After we edited the initial 'Mamma knows best' we added the sepia effect and that complete our design.

Both CD covers follow conventions as the female is the central focus and uses her feminine traits to appeal to the male gaze, however also appeals to other females as our cover has a balance of colour, minimalistic editing and make up but effective.

Eminem's advertisement poster for his album 'Recovery' was more appealing to me as it had the date of release and more information in general on, whereas destinys childs poster didn't really contain much information.

Digipak/Album deigns and images..

We have sorted out another date for us to film our music video, however in order to get all our work done and to meet the deadline set we ave decided to design and get our digipak and poster finished this week. Today Kayla and i made a start on uploading the pictures we had taken and uploaded them onto photoshop and edited them. Together, we decided on the images to use and which images to not use. The front cover we decided on is very 50's as the clothing is 50's inspired as well as the hair and make up.





The fact that we edited it into black and white adds to our retro, vintage theme and gives it a bit of a edgy look.


For the tracklist at the rear of the digipak we have chosen this image:





This image follows the 50's conventions i.e big hair, thick eyeliner, red lipstick, red nail varnish and a checked shirt.

Changes..

Last week we had alot to deal with and for the past month have been dealing with complications mainly consisting of being let down by either the venue or the artist. It all got so much to deal with we decided to change the whole idea. However, that would've taken up so much time (making a new storyboard, new artist, new venue etc) therefore we decided on sticking with the original idea of 'Mamma Knows Best' but using Kayla as the main artist instead of the previous girl we asked. We have arranged a date to shoot and have our location booked. Full steam ahead- we are adamant to make this work. we WILL get this filming done and all the footage shot!

Yesterday, sunday the 4th of December was supposed to be the day we got all our footage and shot our music video-in full. However, due to unforseen circumstances we were unable to do so. Carrie, the tea rooms owner and one of her staff members were ill therfore she emailed Kayla and cancelled our shoot yet again. It is devastating because we were ready, we had the costumes, the make up, the hair all sorted and she pulled out at the last minute.


We have had so many problems with our filming so far, i'm just wondering if we're ever going to get it done. Next week will be too late therefore, we have decided come up with 2 other ideas and story boarded them both.
1. Kanye West and Jay-Z- Otis a hip hop video starring our 2 friends Aidriano and Saqib.
2. Wherever you will go- starring our other friends Lyssie and Elliot, a love story gradually fading.
